Rodeos
Howdy rodeo fans!
The cool weather is finally here and the Gilbert Days festivities are just around the corner! In November, our rodeo royalty court will travel to many elementary schools of Gilbert discussing the western lifestyle and the history of rodeo. We also look forward to riding in the reenactment of the Pony Express and participating in each of the three rodeo performances as well as the Gilbert Days Parade.
Recently, our court had the opportunity to host the “Kind Deed Heroes Banquet”, formerly known as the Buckaroo Ball. Nine individuals were honored for their community services, as well as a group of eighteen others who traveled to Mississippi to aid Hurricane Katrina victims. We had many sponsors that helped make the evening successful and also two very talented singers who entertained guests throughout the night.
As members of the Gilbert Days Rodeo Royalty, our court continues to promote and live by the “Kicking up Kindness” motto. We love to see acts of kindness taking place in the community! This past month, I volunteered at the “Multiple Sclerosis Walk on the Wild Side” event, which was a five mile walk through the Phoenix Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Multiple Sclerosis is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system and can range from being relatively benign to being disabling and devastating. This event helped to make people aware of MS as well as raise funds for finding a cure for this terrible disease. It was a privilege to be a part of such a wonderful occasion.
I hope to see you all at Gilbert Days and don’t forget to keep on “Kicking up Kindness”!
Warmly,
Chantel Miles
