Rob Bielefeld and Pete started the last week of the CN Winter Equestrian Festival presented by Zimmerman Advertising with a victorious first round in the Pre Green Hunters Level 1 on Tuesday.
Bielefeld of Wellington and the five-year-old bay gelding owned by Brett Carter and Robert Fisher of Amelia Island, Fla. took the blue ribbon in the first trip over fences and finished third in the second round. Week 12 marks the third horse show in Pete's career so far.
"I love Pete," Rob said. "He is the most nonchalant horse. He is so brave and very careful for such a nonchalant horse. He has a wonderful attitude."
Pete was bought in Europe and Bielefeld has been riding him for the past six months.
"He has the perfect rhythm and great balance with a soft mouth," he said.
The red ribbon in the first class was awarded to Peggy Gehman of Somers, N.Y. and the six-year-old gray gelding, Believe. Believe is owned by Fashion Farm of Philadelphia.
First place for the second trip was awarded to Peggy Gehman's second mount. the five-year-old bay gelding, Sanzibar, owned by Barbara Ridder Irwin and Karen Long Dwight of New Vernon, N.J.
The red ribbon in the second trip went to James Lala of Wellington and the seven-year-old bay mare, Addison. Addison is owned by Danielle Asher of Highland Park, Ill. and trained by Jill Knowles of Lake Forest, Ill. Week 12 is the third week for Addison to compete at WEF and Tuesday was the first time in the ring with Lala.
"She is easy, pleasant, scopey, brave and quiet," James said. "There really wasn't much to not like. I loved her. Jill has done a nice job with her."
