Who's Who!
Renowned massage therapist and author, Jean-Pierre Hourdebaigt released his latest book titled Equine Muscular Compensation this week. Houdebaigt’s latest book details how to recognize and treat muscular tension that horses develop due to “compensating” for an injury. While shifting weight from an injury, horses often create secondary problems that can be as detrimental as the first.
“My book will help readers understand equine compensation and how to recognize the symptoms.” Hourdebaigt said. “After reading this manual, a horse owner can better evaluate the movement and performance of their horse and actively participate in the animal’s improvement with some stretching exercises and massage techniques.”
Neatly packaged into this manual are methods the amateur horseman can learn that will serve him for a lifetime. Hourdebaigt keeps the language simple and gives clear instructions about his theories and methods of work. The evaluations the reader can make after reading his book, will allow the amateur to improve the horses’ fitness, avoid pain and save time while maintaining high performance levels.
Internationally acclaimed, Hourdebaigt, is recognized as a pioneer in horse massage therapy and is considered one of the foremost experts in his field. Hourdebaigt has been interviewed on a number of TV and radio shows, and written about in newspapers and magazines throughout Canada and the United States. His first book Equine Massage, A Practical Guide, is available in five languages and has been the foundation of his popular equine massage therapy home-study course.
His company, Massage Awareness Inc., is devoted to educating people in the art and application of massage. “I want to teach equine owners and practitioners my techniques,” said Hourdebaigt. “It gives me tremendous joy to present this recent study on equine compensation. It is designed to give practical assistance to the horse owner, or any other professional, to better cope with the everyday situations in the life of our equine friends.”
Hourdebaigt insists his therapeutic skills are not a substitute for medical advice from a veterinarian, but rather a cogent guide to enhance the life and performance of horses. It is written for both the amateur and professional who have the desire to participate in promoting the health and fitness of their horses.
Today Hourdebaigt, resides in Wellington, Florida, where he continues to work in human and animal massage therapy. He continues to write, travel to practical training classes and to promote equine massage. Hourdebaigt offers hands-on clinics, teaches massage therapies and lectures to clubs and groups of horse owners, equine caregivers, and trainers throughout the country.
