Judson College equestrian team member and Intercollegiate Horse Show Association participant Susan Guider of Utica, Miss. has been named winner of one of the 2008 Intercollegiate Equestrian Foundation Scholarships.
Judson is the only school within Zone 5, Region 2 to have a recipient receive this award.
"I was thrilled and extremely grateful when I found out that I had won the scholarship," Guider said. "It came at a perfect time to help pay for school expenses."
Guider is not only a team member, but a team player, said Judson equine director Jennifer Hoggle.
"When fellow team member, Joy Coppock of Lowndesboro lost her grandmother during the last show and regional show prohibited her from qualifying for the western Semi Finals in Cazenovia, NY, Susan voluntarily gave up her spot so that Joy could go and compete at semi's," Hoggle said. "Susan is an exemplary person and certainly makes coaching an IHSA team at Judson College a rewarding experience."
