On July 1, 2008, Arabian Horse Times magazine changed ownership, and is now under the direction of well-known and highly-respected Arabian horse community member Lara Ames. After 38 years of owning Arabian Horse Times, Publisher Walter R. Mishek has decided to retire. He explains.
“In the sale of Arabian Horse Times, I wanted to find a new owner that was devoted to Arabian horses and their owners, breeders, trainers, enthusiasts, etc.,” he says. “I wanted someone who would carry on the great tradition of this wonderful magazine, and the Ames family is the perfect fit.
“The Mishek family and the Ames family have been friends longer than the magazine has existed,” continues Mishek. “In fact, one of the first advertisers in Arabian Horse Times was the Ames’ Cedar Ridge Arabians. Also, it is important to note that the Ames family is very active in the local, state and national organizations that support and promote the Arabian horse, and this has always demonstrated to me their great love and devotion to our breed. In short, my decision was easy, as I know that Lara Ames and the Ames family will make Arabian Horse Times magazine even greater.”
Lara Ames and the staff of Arabian Horse Times congratulate Walter on his retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in his involvement with his beloved Arabian horses.
