Victor Oliva, proprietor of Coudelaria Ilha Verde, is proud to announce that his 12th International Luso-Brasileiro Auction will take place during the afternoon of Saturday, May 16, 2009.
Couldelaria Ilha Verde is located in Araçoiaba da Serra, close to the city of Sorocaba, and the auction has become a red-carpet social event that attracts a capacity crowd of over 1,000 enthusiastic fans, including many foreign buyers as well as many well-known Brazilian celebrities. Since Ilha Verde hosted its first auction in 1998, the event has grown exponentially and is now recognized as one of the world’s foremost opportunities to acquire Lusitanos that continually meet and exceed the essence of this outstanding breed.
Victor Oliva confirms that horses of spectacular quality will also be presented for sale in 20o9: “The high quality and functionality of our horses from well-known ancestral pedigrees is now very well established, and buyers can be reassured that we offer the best veterinary safeguards. The success of our exports continues to generate an ever-growing interest from foreign visitors.”
Last year, Linda Graham from Houston, TX, welcomed a new arrival to her barn following her winning bid on one of the star auction lots: the stunningly handsome palomino stallion Amuleto VO, a son of Donaire, bred by Victor Oliva himself. During a clinic in Texas last October, Amuleto was ridden by well-known trainer and horseman Miguel Ralão Duarte, who was extremely positive with his comments, saying: “He is well balanced, straight, easy to ride, and has a very good mind. He also has an absolutely beautiful Lusitano head.”
For Linda Graham, Amuleto has become her dream horse. “Since he arrived here last June, Amuleto VO has been solely my project [apart from the one clinic with Duarte]. I don't have an arena on my property, so we've spent a lot of time riding around the neighborhood on five miles of trails. My dressage friends are astonished that I can take my four-year-old stallion off the property and ride in the woods by myself. This time spent just riding for pleasure will be the basis of his career as a show horse, and I believe it will make him a more solid competitor. Everyone has also been very complimentary about how light and forward he is! Amuleto is always very cheerful and cooperative. Going into the stall with him is a good example. He lowers his head to put his nose in the halter, then stands calmly and waits for directions. He is like a great golden god who radiates peace and positive energy.”
According to Victor Oliva, “The main objective of our auction is to bring the best horses into the marketplace and offer an exceptional service to buyers,” which is well illustrated by Linda Graham’s glowing testimonial.
