Dressage
Freedom Farm will host New Jersey’s only ESDCTA recognized dressage show that will award cash prizes in every category, on Wednesday, July 15th. This will be the 3rd year that Freedom Farm will open its doors to dressage enthusiasts from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. 50% of the entry fee money will go towards cash prizes through 3rd place in each class except golden oldies where there will be non-cash prizes and ribbons, through 6th.place. Competitors will ride two tests and the competitor’s scores will be averaged to determine the winners.
“Given the current state of the economy, it’s important that we stay focused on this discipline and continue to offer the equestrian community an incentive to compete, to stay in the equine industry and to enjoy the sport,” said Pete D’Costa, Freedom Farm’s owner. As background, dressage is a path and destination of competitive horse training, with competitions held at all levels from amateur to the Olympics. Its fundamental purpose is to develop, through standardized proagressive training methods, a horse's natural athletic ability and willingness to perform, thereby maximizing its potential as a riding horse. At the peak of a dressage horse's gymnastic development, it can smoothly respond to a skilled rider's minimal aids by performing the requested movement while remaining relaxed and appearing effortless
Dressage Classes consist of two tests per class as follows:
1. USDF Tests 1 and 2
2. Training Level Tests 1 and 2
3. Training Level Tests 3 and 4
4. First Level Tests 1 and 2
5. First Level Test 3 and 4
