Get Out Your Boots and Let's Celebrate Our Roots!
April 17
10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre, 20464 E. Riggs Road
As a celebration of its roots as a farming and ranching community, Queen Creek has added a fifth event to its current set of community events, Roots N’ Boots Family Rodeo. Designed to celebrate Queen Creek’s rural heritage as well as give community members a chance to experience and participate in small scale rodeo events, this exciting event promises fun for the entire family!
Patterned after similar family rodeos in Arizona, the Queen Creek’s Roots N’ Boots Family Rodeo will consist of such events as ribbon roping, steer riding, greased pig grabs, rescue races, keg races, barrel racing, businessman calf roping, parent/offspring team roping, money calf/calf scramble, wild cow milking, chute dogging, calf dressing, grocery races and much more! All of which will be as much fun to watch as they will be to participate in.
This list provides events for horse riders and non-riders, ropers and non-ropers, livestock savvy and those who may not be quite so savvy. For instance, events such as the grocery races and business man’s roping are fun team events that encourage non-livestock owners to join a team. Events such as steer riding and the keg racing are events which require a little more competitiveness and experience.
The day will start at 10 a.m. with preliminary heats in some events, as well as carnival rides, pony rides, vendors, petting zoos, and other activities designed for the whole family. At 2 p.m. the main event will begin. You won’t want to miss out on the action!
As with all of Queen Creek’s community activities, this event is intended to bring the friends and families together to enjoy a unique type of fun.
The Town envisions this year’s Family Rodeo to be the inaugural Queen Creek Roots & Boots event with next year’s event including other activities and competitions, ultimately leading to a full week of fun in Queen Creek!
