The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) introduced the NRHA European Nomination Program last fall to enhance purses at the NRHA European Futurity. To help kick off program nominations, NRHA staff are assisting members with questions and paperwork, as well as completing nominations onsite during the 2010 NRHA European Futurity in Kreuth, Germany. With four days of the show remaining, more than 100 total nominations have been received so far. This number completely surpasses expectations considering that the deadline is more than three weeks away. The deadline to nominate 2009 European-born foals for 230€ is March 31, 2010.
“We are excited to see so many members bringing nominations to the NRHA booth this week. We are able to help them face-to-face and provide information to them in several languages hopefully making it more convenient for them to complete the nomination. In fact just this week, we secured a European bank account to make the process easier for members,” said NRHA European Programs Advisor Nick Cornelissens.
The European bank account will allow members to wire their nomination money and simply send the appropriate paperwork to NRHA. Wiring funds is a common practice in Europe, and makes the process more convenient for horsemen. The process was approved following several member requests to do so.

MORE ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Starting in 2013, only four-year-old horses that have been nominated to the NRHA European Nomination Program may compete in the NRHA European Futurity.
The program starts with 2009 European-born foals. The nomination fee for 2009 foals is only 230€ if postmarked by March 31. The fee increases to 1,500€ after March 31. The money acquired by this program will be used to enhance purses at NRHA European Futurity.
ONE PAYMENT – TRIPLE PROFIT
Nominated foals are eligible to enter the:
NRHA US Futurity (as a three-year-old)
NRHA European Futurity (as a four-year-old)
NRHA US Derby (as a four-, five- and six-year-old)
5% NOMINATOR INCENTIVE
People who Nominate foals will benefit even if they do not own the horse at the time it competes. Nominators can earn 5% of what the horse earns at the NRHA European Futurity, NRHA US Futurity or NRHA US Derby.
“The new nomination program is necessary to build a solid platform for future NRHA European Futurities,” says NRHA Executive Director Dan Wall. “Horses nominated into our program will be eligible to compete for millions of dollars in prize money. The program offers a lot of advantages for a great price if the horse is entered as a weanling.”
