Horse Health
Dear Family & Friends,
We were contacted by the Sheriff's Department late last evening to help a little mini horse who was found on the side of the rode just minutes from our Rescue Facility. When we arrived what we found was truly heartbreaking. This little angel was struggling to walk down a busy Hwy. His hooves are some of the worst we have ever seen.
Although he could not walk without a struggle and he was very afraid he gave us no struggle when we put a halter on him and loaded him into our horse trailer to take him to safety.
We would like to thank the Sheriff's Department for calling on us to help this little mini. They were wonderful and gentle with him and did an incredible job keeping him safe and off of the busy highway until we arrived.
Willie is with us now & recovering. The road ahead is going to be a long one to get his hooves to the point that he can walk without struggling. But we are hopeful that he can recover. Our farrier estimates he will need to make several visits to work on his Willie's hooves over the next year. Each trip to work on his hooves will cost $40.00 per visit due to the condition of his hooves. This is a long process.
We will also need to have him Vet checked, he will need all of his shots and he will also need his teeth floated ASAP. Willie appears to be about 20 years old. This size of horse can live into his 30's with the proper care. And that is what we are hoping will happen with our Willie.
We are in need of donations for the care of his feet over the next year, his Vet care and to have his teeth floated. Please reach deep into your pockets and any amount you can spare would be greatly appreciated. Willie must also be on just good brome hay. We were told to limit his grass due to his lameness. So we will need to provide this for Willie also on a daily basis. He will need to be in a safe and secure area until he is healed and able to run and play again with the other horses at our facility. We are trying to erect a small lean to shelter him through the rest of the summer & into winter. So any donations will also be used to provide this for him. Donations can be made directly through our website using Paypal or mailed to our Rescue Facility address listed above. Please mark your donations, Willie.
There are so many others like Willie out there suffering. Each day we do our best to offer our services, provide education and give those like Willie a safe place to go to heal. So please know without your help we could not continue saving those who have no voice of their own. We thank you as always for your continued support & kindness.
This is Willie. He is a sweetheart and did not deserve to end up like this. He loves attention and even though he has suffered severe neglect he still trust people. He is a beautiful little guy who we are so happy we were called to help him.
There is no reason for this type of neglect!
We believe this should be a crime and those who do this to animals should be punished and held accountable for their actions. Our laws need to change! Until they do this type of neglect will not stop. Please get involved. If you see abuse or neglect please report it.
Thank you & God Bless You
