Arizona
Hi
We are writing to you because you are each recognized as trail advocates in the City. Your support two years ago helped us save the Northsight Park bridle path trail ( from the Cavallo Estates developer ). We now have an issue with the existing neighborhood equestrian trail leading to Northsight Park.
The neighborhood trail that leads to the park has been blocked by a newbie / NIMBY that won't remove the "temporary" fence the city allowed the builder to install during a tear down. The City of Scottsdale (read: code enforcement) is doing "too little too late" and now we are hearing the dreaded words -- "abandonment request". This is the only trail left that leads to the park that avoids motorized traffic. Without this trail, this neighborhood will find itself in a similar situation to that of Mescal Park. Equestrians will only have access to the park by riding in the streets and next to a busy road (Thunderbird Rd) and crossing street intersections.
The Patterson Ranch trail is a 30+ year old equestrian trail on the Northern boundary of the subdivision. The trail is in an equestrian easement in an equestrian neighborhood that dates to 1972 !! This trail is marked as an existing trail in the 2004 Master Trails Plan. If we can't save this trail, honestly . . . what is this city coming to?
We need all trail supporters to write City Council members (citycouncil@scottsdaleaz.gov) and make certain the City of Scottsdale does the right thing here. Feel free to forward this e-mail on to fellow equestrians especially. We would appreciate your help.
Thank you,
Robin & Anne Scotford
