Lose weight, exercise more, rope better, win money . . . New Year resolutions shared by many team ropers. While the United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC) can’t necessarily help you with the first two, the nation’s leading team roping organization can help you make good on the latter during Lasso Del Sol (Rope The Sun) December 30 through January 1 at Westworld Equestrian Center in Scottsdale, Ariz.
An annual favorite of team ropers wanting to escape the northern climes, Lasso Del Sol hosted more than 1,700 teams last year, paying more than $212,000 to winners. Average winners in the #12, #11, #10, #9 and #8 will all receive trophy Martin saddles, while a slew of Gist trophy buckles will be awarded throughout the event.
“Lasso Del Sol is a great way to start the New Year for the whole family,” said USTRC President Kirk Bray. “There’s something for everyone, especially New Year’s Day, when the All Girl Specialty Roping will be held as well as the SSG Jr. Looper roping.”
Ropers will enjoy competing in a great facility while eligible to earn 11 National Shoot Outs and 29 Regional Shoots Out. Extended average pay will be offered in all divisions, with Incentive averages offered in the #12, #11, #10 and #9.
