Rodeos
GREELEY, Colo. – Wesley Silcox, struggling all season to stay in contention for a return to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, got just the lift he needed June 27 by winning the Greeley Xtreme Bulls Division 2 event to kick off Cowboy Christmas week.
Silcox rode Beutler & Son Rodeo Company’s Bad Economy for 85.5 points to win the first round and, when none of the 12 finalists completed a qualified ride, the score stood up to give him the overall title as well.
It amounted to a $3,610 payday for the 2007 world champion. That moved him from 31st to 27th in the PRCA World Standings and into the top 20 in the standings for the Seminole Hard Rock Xtreme Bulls Tour presented by B&W Trailer Hitches.
Silcox, of Santaquin, Utah, was 44th in the world standings as recently as two weeks ago.
Rock Springs, Wyo., cowboy Seth Glause was second with a score of 84 points and was followed by Jason McClain (82), Shawn Hogg (80.5) and Rankin Lindsey (80).
