Horse Racing
New Jersey’s most prestigious steeplechase horse racing event, The Far Hills Race Meeting, will celebrate its 91st running on October 22nd at Mooreland Farms. With over 70,000 spectators expected, it is the state’s largest social gathering of the fall season where guests can enjoy top thoroughbred jump racing, the height of culinary skill, modern and traditional fashion and classic camaraderie.
This world-class event mixes society with sport, bringing families, race enthusiasts, organizations and corporations together for a day of racing, high fashion, food, networking and celebration. Total race day purses will equal $660,000, with six races offering the highest purses on the National Steeplechase Association circuit.
Since the 1950’s, this unique annual event has raised over $17 million for Somerset Medical Center and in 2007 contributed to the opening of the Steeplechase Cancer Center.
Once again this year The Far Hills Race Meeting Association will offer alternative spectator opportunities in the form of the Chairman’s Tent and the designated Family Area. A limited number of reserved spaces on the hill above the trail are available this year as well, so the sooner reservations are made the better.
Throughout the years, the Far Hills Race Meeting has raised over $17 million to benefit Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, N.J., and helped to ensure the residents of Central New Jersey are afforded the highest quality healthcare available. Therefore guests will not only be able to have fun and enjoy the races, but they will be supporting a great cause as well.
