Independent insurance brokerage expands presence in equine community by teaming with West Coast Regional Team Roping Champion, Dale Gibson, to sponsor “Ride for a Cure,” a charity event designed to expose at-risk children to the joy and confidence that riding horses can bring
The Equine Specialty Practice of Momentous Insurance Brokerage (Momentous Equine Insurance) announced a partnership with Robert ‘Dale’ Gibson and Gibson Ranch, a premiere boarding stable, roping barn and equestrian activity center located in Sunland, California. As part of this partnership, their first collaboration will be as a sponsor of the Ride for a Cure “Aim for the Moon” annual fundraiser, which Gibson will host at his ranch on August 4, 2012.
The partnership came about when Christina G. DiSalvo, an equine insurance expert from the firm’s Specialty Practice, moved her Arabian horses to Gibson Ranch in April of this year.
“Dale’s reputation is what drew me to boarding my horses at Gibson Ranch,” explains DiSalvo, who has owned and ridden horses since the age of 6.
“Through training my horses here, I realized that we share the same enthusiasm, commitment and passion for horses and the horse world. It was only natural for me and our Equine Practice to rally behind Dale and support Ride for a Cure.”
Gibson Ranch was established in 1998 by Gibson, a highly renowned bull rider, professional stunt rider and coordinator, and team roper. Gibson Ranch currently boards over 80 horses and holds weekly team roping practices.
In addition to being deeply rooted in the equine world, both Gibson Ranch and Momentous have taken great strides in giving back to the community. In 2007, Gibson founded Ride for a Cure with members of a local equestrian club in honor of a fellow member who was suffering from Parkinson’s disease. Each year the fundraiser is hosted at Gibson’s ranch, and features trail rides and silent auctions. As the Director and Chairman of the event, Gibson has worked to raise funds for various organizations, such as the American Parkinson Disease Association. This year the event will shift its focus to Dusty’s Riders, a non-profit that provides interactions with horses and nature to at-risk children to promote self-esteem, personal growth and self-awareness.
Momentous is dedicated to charitable giving and has a rich culture of philanthropy, specifically focusing on organizations that benefit children—among them include the Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center, Operation School Bell, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles and A Place Called Home. Momentous has even supported individuals directly. Earlier this year, their Equine Specialty Practice donated funds from their operating budget to help with the rehabilitation and care of two injured, malnourished and abandoned Arabian horses. The horses were rescued by Katie Wright, of Apple Valley, California, to provide therapeutic care for her special needs children.
“Dale is the real deal – a cowboy in the modern world,” affirms DiSalvo. “We are honored to support a charitable cause that is so personal to him and to the local equine community, and help him achieve his professional goals in team roping.”
To support Gibson’s dedication to advancing in the sport of team roping, Momentous is sponsoring Gibson’s entry into the 2012 World Series of Team Roping Grand Finale, which begins December 10, 2012 in Las Vegas. The event is the highest paying roping event for the sport and features an elite group of ropers in the United States. The Grand Finale awards over three million dollars in two hours of competition. Gibson and his partner, John Richardson, currently stand as the West Coast Regional Champions and are participating in numerous roping competitions leading up to the event.
The collaboration with Gibson Ranch affirms Momentous Insurance Brokerage’s commitment and active involvement in the Equine Industry.
