Traverse City, MI – June 8, 2016 – The Great Lakes Equestrian Festival will continue its second year of competition at the spectacular show grounds of Flintfields Horse Park in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan. As would be expected, the management team at the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival dedicated to making constant improvements to the show to accommodate exhibitors and maintain the quality of the grounds and of the key elements to any successful event, is great footing, and the Great Lakes Festival is no exception.
Flintfields Horse Park will boast all new footing this year from the world-renowned company - Kruse Cushion Ride Footing. Made from 100% recycled materials, Kruse footing provides an all weather, long-lasting surface for the world’s top equestrians.
Kruse footing was featured at the 2015 FEI World Cup in Las Vegas, and will be a brand-new highlight at this year’s Great Lakes Equestrian Festival.
The new footing will update the Main Hunter Ring and Hunter Ring 2, as well as the warm-up area. The footing will also replace the footing in the front lunging ring that will also serve as the FEI schooling area for the new August additions.
Show manager Matt Morrissey said, “This is just one of the many improvements that we are making at the facility over the next five years. We are thrilled to have this five year program begin with the new footing featured in some of the busiest and most popular rings at the show and we are looking forward to continuing with other improvements throughout the facility.” Exhibitors arriving for this year’s festival will have the chance to view a 3D rendering of the five-year plan for the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival property, laying out each plan in phases.
The Great Lakes Equestrian Festival will be adding an all-new August portion, featuring two weeks of FEI 2* and three weeks of FEI 3* competition. Other promising highlights for this year’s Great Lakes Equestrian Festival include WCHR week July 13-17, the $25,000 International Hunter Derby presented by the Gochman Family on July 30th, and the $25,000 U-25 Grand Prix presented by The Moyer Family on August 13th.
The Great Lakes Equestrian Festival is set on 88 beautiful acres and showcases five world-class competition rings in addition to spacious schooling rings. The property features don't stop there as the park offers convenient on-site campgrounds, making for a truly unique attendee experience.
Traverse City, Michigan is a top tourist spot during the summer, and people travel from around the country to enjoy the stunning scenery and family-friendly attractions.
