AMERICAN PAINT HORSE IS A FEATURE MODEL AT 2010 BREYERFEST
Earlier this year, the American Paint Horse Association (APHA) announced that one of its highly celebrated horses, Fleetstreet Max, was made into a portrait model for Breyer horse models. The model was debuted and sold since Spring. The Fleetstreet Max portrait model will also be sold at Breyerfest, where people can meet “Max” in person. The accomplished Paint Horse and his rider will make special guest appearances and daily demonstrations at the Breyerfest event held July 23-25, 2010 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky.
The stunning overo gelding, nicknamed “Max” is owned, shown, and trained by Alisa Bernhard and was bred by her mother Sue Bernhard of Fieldstone Farms in Germantown, Wisconsin. Despite a rocky start, where trainers assured Alisa that he wouldn’t make an all-around horse her faith in him overcame the naysayers in the business. She and Max proved them wrong and have amassed an extensive show record together, earning multiple world and reserve world championships in seven different disciplines including working hunter, hunt seat equitation, equitation over fences, hunter hack, western horsemanship, trail and western riding. The dynamic pair also made APHA show history in 2008 for the most world championships earned, 18 total (21 to date). Max’s accomplishments include a total of five APHA World Show all-around titles, and more than 9,000 APHA show points.

Paint Foundation names NFL dream team
The fastest and most colorful run down the football field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City this season cannot be claimed by any NFL gridiron star. Instead, that honor goes exclusively to the flashy horse-and-rider team of Chiefs Warpaint and Kansas City Chiefs cheerleader Susie Derouchey.
To the thundering applause of about 70,000 Kansas City fans at each home game, Derouchey and “Warpaint” sprinted down the middle of Arrowhead Stadium after every Chiefs touchdown and successful field goal kick. In all, more than 540,000 people at the stadium witnessed their celebratory rides for the 2009-2010 season.
The appearances held special significance for the American Paint Horse Association (APHA), considering Warpaint is a registered American Paint Horse and Derouchey is an active APHA member who has a long history of owning and showing Paints.

Paint Horses take top honors at Chisholm Challenge
Two very special American Paint Horses captured the top two horse awards at the recent Chisholm Challenge for Special Riders, an annual 3-day therapeutic riding event where emotionally, mentally and physically challenged riders demonstrate their riding abilities. The event is held in conjunction with the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo.
Colonels Black Robin, a 7-year-old black tobiano gelding, affectionately known as “Domino,” of All Star Equestrian in Burleson, Texas, won the event’s top horse honor—the “Carrot Award.” According to show manager Cheril Becker, “The judges watch all the horses over the course of the event and choose which one took the best care of its rider.” Domino took excellent care of not just one but three riders in this year’s competition. The striking gelding joined the All Star Equestrian team in June 2007 and was instantly a hit with all the therapy riders and volunteers.

APHA’s first Fall World Championship Paint Horse Show exceeds expectations
Measured by nearly 1,000 horses stemming from 42 states and 4 outside countries; nearly 1,950 entries; beautiful weather and plenty of extra activities, the American Paint Horse Association’s first Fall World Championship Paint Horse Show is now complete.
The split format was introduced this year with the Youth World Show being the focus of the Summer event, while the Open and Amateur World Show, plus the slot classes and Breeders’ Futurity, were the focus of the Fall World. The expanded schedule allows all competitors to feel less overwhelmed by 16-hour show days, gives youth competitors the spotlight they deserve in the summer, allows younger horses more time to mature and be shown in the fall, and gives APHA room to add more classes, clinics and fun activities throughout both summer and fall shows.
