New Holland Agriculture Announces Tier 4A Solutions
As the Clean Energy Leader, New
Holland has been pioneering the use of biodiesel in agricultural
machinery since 2006, and is currently researching the most advanced
technologies. The Brand developed the award-winning NH2TM tractor, the
first to use hydrogen fuel cells, and the Energy Independent Farm
concept, therefore exploring ways to enable farmers to reach zero
emissions and energy independence in the future.
In the meantime, Tier 4A emissions regulations will become a legal
requirement in 2011 for medium- and heavy-duty engines above 174hp (130
kW). Once again New Holland intends to be at the forefront of the
industry, with ingenious solutions that make farming easier and more
efficient while respecting the environment. “We believe that a one size
fits all approach just won’t work in modern farming,” explains Pierre
Lahutte, Director of Global Marketing and Communication for New Holland
Agriculture. “We are committed to integrating the best available engine
technology for every machine and operation.” So, New Holland has
adopted SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology for machines
with engines above 100 hp and CEGR, Cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation,
for engines below 100 hp.

Draper Equine Therapy, makers of therapeutic horse and rider products, will debut their new Equine Therapy Hock Boots to retailers at the American Equestrian Trade Association’s (AETA) International Trade Fair. The trade show will be held January 30 through February 1 at the Greater Philadelphia Convention Center in Oaks, Pennsylvania.
Draper’s Equine Therapy Hock Boots are durable, wash and wear hock boots that fit numerous sized horses and a wide array of conformations. “For several years we have had customers asking us to develop a hock boot. At AETA we will be introducing the hock boots to retailers and we encourage anyone attending the show to visit us at booth 518,” said Kat Wojtylak, Product Manager at Draper Therapies. “One of the great things about our hock boot is that for horses who have had surgery or injuries to the area, it fits well after the area becomes inflamed, but also will fit once the edema has lessened.”

A new aluminum ENDURANCE SAFETY STIRRUP has been released by The Australian Stock Saddle Company, of Malibu, California. The stirrup has a 5" vertical clearance from the underside of the top of the shank to the bottom of the platform. The top shank has a slot for an English leather, 1 3/8" across. The inside width of the top shank is 2 3/4", which means most western fenders, and Australian fenders, can slide under the bar. The total foot depth of the stirrup is 3 3/4" The width of the stirrup, from side to side, at the level where a foot would be (without the padding) is 4 3/4" . The extreme width of the inside bell shape is 5". The outside of the stirrup has the traditional Australian safety curve, poromoting immediate release of a hung-up boot. A 2.5 degree camber on the bottom of the stirrup makes " heels-down" natural. This degree also promotes comfort for extended two-point riding, as in endurance racing. The weight of each stirrup, with pad, is 13 oz. The stirrups come with a velcro closing suede leather pad that is lined with high density foam to give greater rider foot comfort.The pads come in brown or black. Cost per pair $69.00

Cavallo Contribution Captures the Win: Competitive Rider Uses Simple Hoof Boots
The BC Competitive Trail Riders Association held its Annual Awards ceremony on October 23, 2009. Nicole Vaugeois of Nanaimo won the Top BC Lightweight rider with her unregistered Quarter Horse El Nino.
Competitive trail riding is a long distance riding sport where horse and rider teams navigate over a variety of terrains in a set period of time. The sport is all about the horses' fitness, conditioning and overall health.
Last year, BCCTRA approved the use of hoof boots for horses during competition. "This rule change has allowed riders more flexibility in their hoof care options during competition" states Vaugeois. It is not uncommon now to see horse and rider teams using Cavallo boots on the rides for primary hoof care or as a back up to a pulled shoe.
