Tom Foran Releases Training DVD
Tom Foran is proud to announce that he has teamed up with Jenifer and Chris Cook of Sandbur Video, along with PlusOne Productions, to create a comprehensive training video that will be released mid-July.

Foran came up with the idea to create an instructional video to help non professional and amateur riders are trying to put together a training program at home – a problem many face when forced to make cutbacks due to the current state of the economy.

“I started getting a lot of calls from non pro riders who were trying to maintain their reining horse at home without giving up on their hobby,” Foran explained. “I realized that many would benefit from having a tool in their hands to help formulate a successful, easy-to-follow program that any non pro or amateur rider could do at home. It won’t take the place of a professional by any means, but my hope is that it will be helpful for those who are riding their reiners on their own.”

“Shoeing with Purpose”
There’s an old saying around horse people, “No foot, no horse”. A horse’s entire weight is supported by his feet. The average horse weighs about 1000 pounds. Without healthy feet, a horse could truly be in trouble. Proper shoeing is of the utmost importance, especially to the performance horse. Devoted horse lovers spend thousands of dollars every year to maintain their horse’s feet. Your hoof care program is very important because not only does it affect the quality of the horse’s performance but any future soundness issues. Shoes can protect the muscles, bones, and tendons of the legs from injury.

Arizona Reining Horse Association Trainers Discussion - “Tricks of the Trade” Flying Lead Changes
Did you know that flying lead changes are one of the few things that horses do naturally? Wild horses don’t spin, slide, or back up…but they do effortless flying lead changes all day long! If this is true, then why do so many people struggle with changing from one lead to the other? It should be easy right? If you are one of the many who need help with delivering a perfect flying lead change, then this article is for you!

Wikipedia defines a lead change as moving in a canter or gallop, changing from one lead to the other. There are two basic forms of lead change: simple and flying. It is very easy to define the correct lead from the incorrect lead. When a horse is executing the correct lead, his inside leg will reach farther forwards than his outside and vice-versa to define incorrect.
