This year is really starting to pick up. Starting with the Gila County kids rodeo and the Andy Devine Days in Kingman, followed by the Rex Allen Days in Wilcox, we seem to never stop ridin' around. The temperatures are slowly starting to decrease, but I really wouldn't mind days full of beautiful 80 degerees, or lower! Now I get to introduce you to another beautiful girl from my court, the Jr. Miss, Dana MacKenzie. I am having a wonderful time getting to know these lovely and extremely talented girls; it's truly a blast, so I am looking forward to all of the events in the future. Without futher ado, here is Dana! -Avery Williams
Howdy! I’m Dana McKenzie, your 2007 Gila County Junior Miss Queen. I’m very excited to be representing the Gila County Championship Rodeo in Globe this year as a queen. It is so fun being able to go all around the state – especially to get out of the heat.
I’m an eighth grader at Aprende Middle School in Chandler, Arizona. I’m 13 years old and I participate in 4-H, church choir, school track and field, and softball.
I have two horses, Mia and Midnight. I barrel race in as many rodeos as I can that I also participate in as a rodeo queen. Mia is my dark bay horse I use for queening, poles and barrels. Midnight is my blue roan horse I use for working cattle and Western pleasure events/trail.
My favorite part about Globe, Arizona is that it has so much history, like the old brick buildings that have been there for 100 years and the gold, silver and copper mines because those are a very significant part of Globe’s history. I just love the Gila County Championship Rodeo parade because you get a quick tour through the antique part of town. The buildings are amazing and the friendly residents of Globe give me a warm happy feeling when they smile and wave at me.
I want to give a big “THANK YOU!!” to the Gila County Rodeo Committee for all the hard work you’ve done this year so far for the Gila County Championship Rodeo! Also, thanks to our many sponsors – we couldn’t do this fun job without you!!!
