In December 1987, Jane Evans from Chandler wrote into the Bridle and Bit newspaper asking if there were any single horse enthusiasts who would like to get together.

In January 1988 Jane had a meeting at her home with several interested people. So the group went to McDowell Mountain Park and did a pre-ride.

The first ride was held in February 1988 with 17 people joining Jane for a ride and a cook-out.

By the end of 1988 we had 78 single members from all over joining the club. Jane would then mail out a newsletter with the next three months of weekend trail rides so people could plan for them.

Over the years we have tried several different things, with the weekend camp-out rides and some moonlight or day rides. Then we would get together for a potluck dinner on Saturday night with a Sunday morning breakfast. There has been many changes over the years, but we keep going back for more. Some of our members have met & married and have stayed with the group, but you must be single when you first join us. Most of the group are in the ages of 30, 40, and up. We do not have any children under the adult age with us as we had some problems and had to stop it.

February will be the clubs 20th Anniversary, so we will have a catered dinner on Saturday night instead of the potluck.

If you feel that you would like to join our group for a monthly time of horseback riding and camping out, please give me a call and I will get you started. Pat Frame (623) 933-3372 or go to our website lonerangerssinglesridingclub.org which will give you the information about upcoming rides.
