On November 15th, the Embassy of Italy will welcome the world famous Land Rover America's Polo Cup Perpetual Trophy to the Italian Embassy at a Congressional VIP reception. The reception, a celebration of the relationship between the Italy and the Land Rover America's Polo Cup, will include the highly-anticipated announcement of the Italian competitors for the fashion, culinary and polo events in May 2008. Governor Kaine, Senator Warner and Congressman Moran have been invited to speak on behalf of the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

"We are thrilled to be able to share the excitement of this night with our friends in Congress and in the community. The Embassy has been very secretive about who they are bringing to compete- even my husband and I don't know who it is!” says Michaele Salahi, co-chairmen of the Land Rover America's Polo Cup. Although rumors have circled that high-profile designers have been secured for the fashion element, the Embassy has stayed mum on the competitors until the reception.

Each year, the Five Foot trophy is transferred to the challenging country's Embassy to be proudly displayed for the upcoming year. On May 9th and 10th, the trophy will be relocated to Historic Morven Park and awarded to the winning team. Both the Italians and the Americans are fairly confident in an upcoming victory for their country. Team captain and co-chairman Tareq Salahi comments, "Last year with England was a challenge, however we are certainly looking for a Different outcome on the polo field this year!”
