World Equestrian Brands is pleased to announce the sponsorship of Arlene “Tuny” Page with their E. A. Mattes Saddle Pads. Page has enjoyed many wins in the FEI Grand Prix arena, including the USEF National Grand Prix Freestyle Championship in 2006, which qualified her to represent the USA in the 2006 World Cup finals in the Netherlands. Page uses E. A. Mattes saddle pads for competition and daily for schooling and training at her Still Point Farm in Wellington, Florida.
Page travels to Germany to work with dressage master, Hubertus Schmidt. Several years ago, while she was training in Europe, Peter Mattes donated saddle pads to the short listed riders for the US World Equestrian Games. Immediately impressed with the quality of the pad, Page rode in it and has remained loyal to Mattes saddle pads to this day. “My horses feel great when I ride in a Mattes pad,” Page said. “It is a marvelously uncomplicated pad with attached sheepskin panels. I like the natural feel of the sheepskin. It has an innate ability to ‘stabilize’ my saddle and the flaps do not interfere with my legs.”
E. A. Mattes natural sheepskin saddle pads were recently rated the number one Therapeutic Saddle Pad in an industry-wide test of saddle pads. The Horse Journal tested a variety of saddle pad materials and found that “natural sheepskin remains the gold standard in saddle pad materials” because of the excellent natural wicking properties, air flow, wear and support sheepskin gives to a horse’s back.
In addition to competing and training, Page serves the dressage community on the USET Foundation Board of Trustees and the USEF High Performance Dressage Committee. Page is accustomed to giving her best whether she is riding or serving on committee for a charitable occasion. She uses only the highest quality equipment to achieve the results she is focused on. “One of its best features,” said Page, “is not only do I use this pad for training, but I use it exclusively to show in. It’s the ideal saddle pad for my needs,” Page noted. The Mattes PM System was developed in conjunction with Peter Menet, designer of Amerigo and Vega saddles. Peter Mattes, who designed the E.A. Mattes pad was scheduled to visit Florida this past month and meet Page and other top riders with Robin Moore of World Equestrian Brands. The trip had to be postponed but details for a future trips to the U.S. will be forthcoming.
E.A. Mattes saddle pads are available at fine tack stores throughout the U.S. For more information on E.A Mattes Saddle Pads visit World Equestrian Brands at: www.worldequestrianbrands.com
