World Equestrian Brands, distributors of Amerigo Saddles, welcomed Swiss saddle designer, Peter Menet, to Wellington recently. Menet created and developed the Amerigo line of performance saddles. During his visit Menet conducted several saddle fitting demonstrations for leading riders and trainers competing on the prestigious Florida winter circuit.
Menet came to Florida to work with Robin Moore, Amerigo Brand Manager, who was in Florida for the season. Moore, a skilled saddle fitter in her own right, currently fits saddles for a number of Olympic and international competitors of all disciplines and provides technical training for saddle fitters throughout the country. Moore also continues in-depth training with Menet, who she considers her mentor.
Top trainers sponsored by Amerigo saddles are in Wellington for the Florida winter circuit, including grand prix riders, Dick Carvin and Francie Steinwedell-Carvin from California, USET team rider, Kim Prince, USDF gold medalist, John Zopatti and Olympian, Bent Jensen.
Menet’s saddle fitting demonstrations were well attended and led to individual saddle fitting opportunities with Menet for several riders. Menet demonstrated the advantages a properly designed and fitted saddle could produce. Amerigo saddles are crafted from top quality materials including a variety of wooden spring trees and wool-flocked independent panels that make this product one of the most precisely fitted saddles, meeting the needs of both horse and rider.
A second saddle fitting demonstration at Gerry and Kathy Newman’s Allwyn Court, a highly successful hunter/jumper barn, prompted Kathy Newman to remark later that week, “The saddle Peter and Robin fit for my young jumper was career changing for this horse.”
Not surprisingly Menet attracted top riders and trainers at a saddle-fitting seminar hosted by Carol Fraser and R. Richardson at Fraser’s dressage facility in Wellington. The grand prix rider/trainer team of Francie Steinwedell-Carvin and her husband, Dick Carvin, complemented Menet on their horses’ performance and attributed their horses’ sound backs to the way their Amerigo saddles fit.
Moore is available to conduct saddle fitting demonstrations and seminars in the United States. Riders and trainers interested in saddle fitting and information can contact Robin Moore via World Equestrian Brands at rmoore@equibrand.com
