The Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) would like to congratulate Calizona ApHC as the 2007 Exemplary Appaloosa Regional Club winner! Calizona ApHC will receive $500, along with a certificate and an award proclaiming their Exemplary Appaloosa Regional Club title.
The ApHC would also like to congratulate the 2007 Exemplary Regional Club Territory Finalists; Appaloosa Horse Association of Alberta, Sooner ApHC of Oklahoma, and Tennessee State ApHC. Territorial finalists receive a $200 check and a Certificate of Achievement.
Calizona ApHC submitted a colorful scrapbook describing their 2007 activities and efforts in promoting Appaloosa’s and enhancing the Appaloosa experience. Calizona ApHC displayed its most notable accomplishments throughout the years, such as pioneering major shows and exhibiting Appaloosas in the world renowned Rose Parade in Pasadena, Cali.
The club was founded in the early 1950s, though the exact year is often a topic of debate. Throughout the years Calizona ApHC has proven to be a resilient club. While Calizona ApHC and its members have experienced ups and downs, they have never faltered in their mission of promoting the Appaloosa breed.
“The Calizona ApHC is an excellent example of our active regional clubs working for the benefit of the Appaloosa community,” Merida McClanahan, ApHC Director of Marketing, said.
The exemplary regional club award is presented annually to the regional club that is an example for others. This program encourages clubs to be active with their members, help to boost membership in both the regional and national club, as well as promote the Appaloosa horse. Clubs are scored on selected criteria ranging from open and breed shows, to trail rides and clinics, to local community and charitable participation.
