SIXTH ANNUAL VULTURE PEAK TRAIL TRIALS
By
Apr 25, 2008, 13:51

This is getting to be a habit! Once again, we're looking at the trail for new obstacles. We're leaving the "horse-eating donkey" at home this year, along with the bouncy bridge. That means we need six different obstacles for the riders to overcome. Come join us and see what obstacles we have for 2008! Mark down the date. It's Saturday, October 18th.

The trail goes the opposite way from last year and should take approximately 3-4 hours to complete. Once again, there will be six judges along the trail. We want to have everyone registered and on the trail by 9 a.m. Registration begins at 7:50 a.m. Please be back to the staging area by 12:30 for lunch, which is included in your entry fee.

We've had people comment on the scenery. Words like, "picture-card perfect" and "stunning
views" come to mind. At one point you can see the buildings of downtown Phoenix. Another
spectacular site is the east face of Vulture Peak, towering 3,660 feet above the trail.

Division ages are the same. Junior riders will be age 10 to 17. Adult riders will be age
18 through 49. Senior riders will be age 50 and above. No riders under the age of 10 will be
allowed on the trail. No ride alongs. We ask that all junior riders wear a helmet on the trail and
have an adult in camp. No observers. We have space for 75 riders this year.

Please bring a chair and a wristwatch. Bring any food for your horse. Water will be provided at
the staging area. Bring a rake and shovel. ALL horse manure must be taken with you in your trailer.
Horses must be tied to their trailers or be in an enclosure. No tying to trees allowed. Trash cans
will be provided. PLEASE PARK CLOSE TOGETHER AS THERE IS LIMITED SPACE!!

If you must bring your dog it must be tied to your trailer or be confined in an enclosure. Please remember that the weather may be warm and there is limited shade.

There will be awards given through sixth place in each division. A special high point horse and
rider award will be awarded. Four horseshoes are along the trail that can be turned in for
a prize at the awards ceremony. Before the awards ceremony the judges will talk about their
obstacle and offer suggestions.

The entry fee is $55.00 for adults and seniors, $50.00 for juniors, which covers BLM permits,
State of Arizona permits, local permits, judges fees and lunch. Entry deadline is October 13th.
