MASH dog #1031 needs a name and a home. He is a 2 year old Shepherd mix who came to the MASH unit in November 2007 along with 30 other dogs whose owner failed to care for. He is very sweet and is good with other dogs. Sergeant Beckley of MASH isn’t sure about cats.
“He really needs to be in a home where he can run and play all day long,” she said.
Here is a opportunity to provide a sweet neglected animal with a new home and name.
Justin is “the horse of the month”; he is a 1 ˝ yr old gelding who came to MASH at seven months old, weighing just 150 lbs. Due to neglect, Justin had cataracts in both eyes. He has undergone several surgeries and now has good vision.
The Animal Crimes Investigative unit has noticed an increase in abandonments. . The good news is that none of this month’s arrests were equine related.
“On January 17 out in the west valley we arrested Elizabeth Anne Lewis, seized 15 cats, and charged her with 19 counts of failure to provide food and water,” said Sergeant Matt Summers. “We seized a sheep dog that the vet said should weigh 100 pounds; he weighed 28.”
The ACI cleared 50% of its outstanding warrants this month. They took two persons into custody, and discovered that four others were either out of state, out of country or deceased.
“We arrested a woman for animal cruelty and child neglect,” he said. “Her boyfriend was leaving, she threw his puppy under the wheel of his truck to get him to stop. He didn’t see the puppy. She placed one of her children in the back of the truck and another in front. We arrested one individual for cock fighting in Wittmann and confiscated 114 birds.”
The Sheriff needs your help in placing these victims of abuse. For more information on Justin or dog 1031, call Sergeant Beckley at 602-525-0256.
