This past weekend Katherine Newman competed at the Littlewood Farm Spring Finale Horse Show in Wellington, FL, and rode her way to two circuit championships. Seventeen-year-old Newman, who rides at her family farm Allwyn Court, piloted Zenith for trainers Jay and Dee Matter. After coming home with the Large Junior Hunter division championship, the pair received the overall Large Junior Hunter Circuit Championship for their consistent success at Littlewood Farm's spring horse shows.

The young rider earned another division tricolor and circuit championship aboard Lifetime Guarantee. Newman showed Lifetime Guarantee, owned by Liza Mckee-Cole, in the Small Junior Hunter division, and their repetitive wins in the show ring sealed the Spring Circuit Championship award. "I was lucky enough to ride two circuit champions," smiled Newman. "Both of them were great this week."

This weekend Newman also showed a horse named Pacino in the Small Junior Hunters. The duo won second place in both classes on the first day of competition, and they earned a second and two thirds the following day. "I had never ridden him before, but he was really simple and easy," she noted. Pacino is owned by Madison Miller.

In the Large Junior Hunters, Newman competed with a new catch-ride named Miracle, owned by Paulexi LLC. The mare finished with the reserve championship after Newman guided her to win a first, a second, and two fourth place ribbons. Additionally, Newman participated in the USEF Medal and the Washington International Horse Show equitation class aboard Candy Man, a horse owned by Montoga Inc. In both the hunter and jumper phase, Newman won with solid, consistent scores of 87. She also placed third in the USEF Medal. "Last week was my first time showing Candy Man," she revealed. "He is a very nice horse and was very fun to ride."

Newman resides in Wellington, FL, and trains with her parents, Kathy and Gerry Newman. She also trains with grand prix rider and Olympic veteran Todd Minikus. She will compete next at the Kentucky Spring Horse Shows and then travel to Pennsylvania for the Devon Horse Show.
