WILDHORSE RANCH RESCUE TO HOST HAVASUPUP MUSIC FESTIVAL TO HELP GRAND CANYON HIKING DOGS

Wildhorse Ranch Rescue Inc., (WHRR) Gilbert, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving horses and mules from abuse, neglect, slaughter and premature death, on May 10, 2008, will host the HavasuPup Music Festival.
The festival, to help the Grand Canyon hiking dogs, is possible due to the joint effort of WHRR; Flagstaff-based Second Chance Center for Animals; Kanab, Utah-based Best Friends Animal Society; and the Havasupai Tribal Council. Havasu `Baaja, more commonly known as the Havasupai Tribe, are the traditional guardians of the Grand Canyon.
The friendly dogs that live in the Grand Canyon typically greet hikers and accompany them on their journeys. They have touched the hearts of all the hikers. However, many of the dogs need homes, veterinary care and a spay/neuter program. By working with the Havasupai Tribal Council, WHRR, Second Chance and Best Friends have put into place a plan by which this can happen. Funds are needed to accomplish this goal, as well as a need for permanent homes and/or foster homes for some of the dogs and puppies.
The HavasuPup Music Festival will bring together six bands (rock, jazz and blues) to help these amazing Grand Canyon hiking dogs. The event will include food and an outdoor bar. Everyone is welcome. The event is dog friendly, so guests can bring their pooches on a leash. Guests also can meet the WHRR resident rescue horses.
The music festival promises to be exciting and an entire night of fun. Guests can camp out at the ranch in their truck or tents.
“Although we are a horse rescue, we believe all animals should have the best possible chance in life,” said Rhona Melsky, secretary, WHRR board of directors. “The Grand Canyon hiking dogs are amazing dogs and the hikers have come to adore them. Through vet care, a spay/neuter program and finding homes for the ones who need them we’re just doing our part.”
So come on down to Wildhorse Ranch Rescue to help the HavasuPups. WHRR brings out the best in us all and helps us all to do our best to protect animals.
