State Fair Park Construction Update & Important Deadlines for the 2008 NRHA Derby!

The 2008 NRHA Derby is fast approaching! The week of June 23-28 will be filled with all sorts of family-fun events in Oklahoma City as the world’s finest four-, five- and six-year-old horses compete for close to a half million dollars in cash and prizes.

The Derby will also feature a full slate of ancillary classes, the Adequan® USEF National Reining Championship presented by Equine Motorcoach, the USEF National Youth Reining Championship and the Selection Trial for the North American Young Riders Championships.

The extensive renovations at the Oklahoma State Fair Park are in the home stretch! At the Derby, you’ll find lots of new changes and additions made to the grounds since the Futurity. The biggest differences exhibitors will notice are the major changes to Barn 6! There are NEW stalls like the ones in the Super Barn! The Barn is clean and looks a whole lot different than you might remember. Click here for a look at the new stalls in Barn 6 along with other updates made in the Super Barn, and Barn 8. (Don’t worry; the stalls in Barn 6 will have regular dividers needed for horses! Not the shorter dividers you see in the pictures.)

Other important Derby news includes several deadlines involving stalls, payments and entries that we DO NOT want you to miss! So please take a moment to write the following Derby deadlines on your calendar.

May 9 – Stall Sponsor stall reservations due
May 15 – 2nd Derby payment due (must be in the office on or before May 15 – postmarks will not count)
May 15 – Youth Non Pro Derby entries due to avoid penalties
May 15 – Prime Time division coupons and entry fees due - $200
May 15 – Derby Sire & Dam entries and Intermediate & Limited division entries due
May 23 – Stall reservations due
June 1 – Rider Designation coupons due (must be in the office on or before June 1 – postmarks will not count)
June 6 – Cantina ticket reservation forms due
June 16 – Live Feed orders due
June 21 – 5:00 pm – final deadline for Non Pro Derby entries, substitutions, division changes, etc.
June 23 – 5:00 pm – final deadline for Open Derby entries, substitutions, division changes, etc.
