A Special Thank You From Hunters Lane’s Robbie Hunt

Robbie Hunt would like everyone to know that he’s just fine. After being hospitalized on April 21st for a minor surgical procedure (“Really nothing serious,” he notes) he’s almost fully recovered and will soon be back on the horse-show trail.

But the event did take him away from his Monroe, N.C.-based Hunters Lane Farm and his many clients for several weeks, leaving associate trainer Steven Heinecke at the helm.

“I want to thank Steve so very much,” said Hunt. “During this time he proved himself the consummate professional. He took up the reins at Hunters Lane acting as full-time trainer to our wonderful clients and continued, also, to ride and show.

”Needless to say, his efforts helped enormously with my recovery, “ Hunt continued, “and I can’t help but admire his willingness, energy, and organizational abilities. Under his guidance our clients and their horses continued to perform at their very best as evidenced by the many ribbons and championship titles they earned at this year’s Aiken Spring Classic.”

At last week’s Aiken Finale, Hunters Lane clients earned no less than five division championships, several Reserves, and many top-placing ribbons. Lucille Oken was named Circuit Champion Pony Hunter and Best Child Pony Rider.

A one-time ASPCA Maclay winner, Heinecke is now a professional rider who has captured numerous Hunter division championships and classic titles over the years. He joined Hunters Lane as a trainer in 2007.

“So thank you, Steve, for an incredible job well done,” added Hunt. “I’m sure everyone at the barn joins me in saying thank you for being part of the Hunters Lane team! ”
