Hunters Lane rider Lucille Oken, of Charlotte, N.C., conquered the competition this past weekend, capturing numerous division championships and top ribbons at the Aiken Spring Masters.

Oken, 12, piloted two mounts, both owned by her older sister Alise, to 1st place in Classic competition. Oken captured the NAL-WIHS Children’s Hunter 14 & Under Classic with the mare Alisette, and also won the Pony Hunter Classic aboard Lands End Mad Hatter.

Lands End, known affectionately as Bubba, has long been a member of the Oken family and was shown by Alise Oken before she began her junior career.

Lucille also had several division titles at Aiken this week: Small Pony Hunter Champion aboard her own Hi Lite, Children’s Pony Hunter Champion with Showtime, Champion and Reserve Champ in the Large Pony Hunters riding Ever After and Lands End Mad Hatter, respectively, and Reserve again in the Children’s Hunter Horse 14 & U with Alisette.

“It was just wonderful for her," said Mom Celene Oken. "She was very focused and relaxed.”

Sister Alise, 16, who recently won the $30,000 Invitational Junior Jumper Classic at WEF with her horse Take Away, piloted her jumper Pedro to 3rd place in the Jr/AO Jumper Classic and earned several top ribbons in the Large Junior Hunters (16-17) with her horse Quintin.

The Okens are both trained by Robert Hunt and ride at his Monroe, N.C.-based Hunters Lane Farm.
