The 13th annual Marion Rodeo will be held at the Ralph Eagle Memorial Arena on Highway 14 East in Perry County on June 13-14.
In addition to the “regular” rodeo events, many additional activities have been planned with the children in mind. The event that will take place first in the arena will be the "Mutton Bustin". Children who weigh 70#'s and under can register to ride the mutton (sheep) beginning at 6:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded and everyone who rides will be introduced to the audience.
Following "Mutton Bustin" and opening the rodeo are our "Little Wranglers" , who will be featured in the official Stokes Dodge Rodeo truck beginning at 7:30 p.m. Boys and girls ages 2-10 have opportunity to ride in the arena in the official Dodge Rodeo Truck and be a part the "Mardi Gras" style opening. Everyone who signs up to be a "Little Wrangler" is a winner and is awarded a prize.
Other events for the children include the "Gold Rush"--a chance for children to rush into the hay, dig for buried treasures and keep the "loot" they find. And, of course the "Calf Scramble" is also planned and winners will be given a prize for this event as well.
For the bigger cowboys and cowgirls (ages 18 & over) the "Steer Dressing Contest" includes teams of three who compete to see whose team can have a dressed steer cross the finish line first with a dressed steer. This is hilarious and very entertaining to the crowd and well as the competitors. Winners for this event will receive part of the jackpot - so this one has the potential for payback.
Don’t miss the 13th annual Marion Rodeo. It’s your chance to get wild and western!
