With the Phoenix temperature soaring above 110 degrees, I would like to ask you to spend a few days volunteering in the cool mountain air and beautiful Pines of Flagstaff

. This is an opportunity for Northern and Southern volunteers to get acquainted while enabling our Flagstaff Dressage shows to run smoothly. Please consider taking a few hours out of your week to volunteer at the Mountain Air Dressage Show and your weekend to volunteer at the Dressage in the Pines Show.

For purposes of scheduling, we ask that volunteers serve either a morning or afternoon shift; however, do not let the blocks of time discourage you as we would be pleased to have you for any length of time. The average shift lasts approximately four to five hours. Morning volunteers should be morning people, willing to arrive as early as 7:00 or 7:30 for shows that begin promptly at 8:00 am. For afternoon shifts, the volunteer should arrive 30 minutes prior to their shift and be prepared to stay until the end of the show day, which is usually 4:00 or 5:00 pm. We are delighted when a volunteer will work a full day or even two! Although the Flagstaff shows are held on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, there is a lot of preparation that goes on the day before. We can use help all day on Tuesday and Friday before the shows to set rings, put up signs, banners and ring decorations.

Please contact me, Rolanda Smedley, at 623-261-9375 or email myskeeterpie@qwest.net with the following information:

· What day(s) you would prefer to volunteer (Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday or any combination of the four days);

· The shift you would prefer to volunteer (AM, PM or all day);

· What volunteer position you would prefer. Most of the positions require no previous experience as we provide training for all positions.

The available positions are:

RING STEWARD

RUNNER

JUDGE HOSPITALITY

RING SET-UP/TEAR-DOWN

AWARDS/MERCHANDISE TABLE

We do our best to recognize your valuable contribution to our shows. Each volunteer receives a free t-shirt to wear at the show. We also provide you with a meal ticket for the venue food concession, as well as snacks and refreshments for your enjoyment. For each morning or afternoon shift worked, you will receive a raffle ticket for our daily cash drawing.

Thank you again for your continued support and I will see you in Flagstaff (don't forget a sweater)!

Sincerely,

Rolanda Smedley
