Two of the world’s top NRHA Professionals will host the first ever National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Regional Clinic in Europe to benefit the National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHyA). A 2009 NRHA Regional Clinic is coming to Sweden on Monday, July 14 at the Bokeberg Gard arena in Svedala, Sweden. Bernard and Ann Fonck will host the one-day clinic after the 2009 European Affiliate Championship Show.

Both NRHA Professionals have had an outstanding and successful Reining career capturing titles across Europe and the world. Just last year, Ann and Bernard won the NRHA Open World Champion title aboard Lenas Pegesis. Bernard has approximately $400,000 in NRHA Lifetime Earnings and earned the distinction of being the first rider to win the inaugural NRHA European Futurity open division in Germany last March. In addition, he was a 2008 NRHA Top 20 Professional; 2008 Open Top Ten rider on BA Reckless Chic, Don Quixote Escapes and The Rumble Bee; 2006 NRHA Open Reserve World Champion, 2008 Italian Reining Horse Association Open Derby Reserve Champion, 2008 Mallorca Western Festival Open Reserve Champion and 2008 Americana Open Champion. Ann has over $160,000 in NRHA Lifetime Earnings. She was a 2008 NRHA Top 20 Professional, 2008 Mallorca Western Festival Open Champion, 2008 Italian Reining Horse Association Open Derby finalist, 2006 Americana finalist and 2009 NRHA European Open Futurity finalist. Both riders competed and were successful at the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games as well.

While this is the fourth year that the NRHA has organized the Regional Clinics to help raise funds for NRHyA. This will be the first Regional Clinic on International soil. The Clinics are designed to help anyone who is interested in learning more about reining horses, the reining business, NRHA, and improving their horsemanship. The one-on-one training that participants receive is tailored to each individual’s needs.

“This is a monumentous occasion for the NRHA Regional Clinic series, and we are excited to bring a clinic to our European membership. The European Affiliate Championship show is a great venue for us to present this fun, educational clinic format – and raise money for our young reiners,” said Dan Wall NRHA Executive Director.

Participants learn by doing and watching other reiners during the hands-on sessions. “The amount of advice and knowledge that’s passed along is phenomenal. I’ll learn more here in one afternoon than I would in a week with a book or a video,” said Rick Finkler, 2008 NRHA Regional Clinic participant. Another participant, Ashley Bosack, commented, “I love learning new things and having different trainers teach you. It’s been really fun.”

Space is limited so sign up as soon as possible. All the proceeds go to support the NRHyA International scholarships, programs, and youth activities. The clinic will start at 8:00 a.m. and run to 5:00 p.m. with an hour lunch break. The cost per day is 115 € for youth riders, 200 € for adults, and 20 € for auditors/spectators.
