From www.bridleandbit.com Arizona This summer as the temperatures rise and team ropings slow down in the valley, consider driving north just a few hours for two ropings that are fairly new to Arizona. In July the 5th Annual Ted Meredith Memorial Roping will be taking place on the 18th & 19th in Young, AZ. This event is held in memory of local rancher and spur maker, Ted Meredith. It is held during Pleasant Valley Days and there is plenty of entertainment for the family. Along with the roping there is a parade and a steak fry on Saturday, not to mention that the temperatures are much cooler at a mile high. This year not only do the high money header and heeler of the weekend win .44 lever action rifles; the average winners of the all girl roping will receive saddles. Other prizes to be given away this weekend are handcrafted spurs made by Ted Meredith and Tres Rios Buckles. Keeping with the spirit of ranching some of the ropings this weekend will be held on muley cattle, making it a little more like real ranch work. Free shower facilities and limited RV hook-ups are available. For more information please call Garrett or Sarah at 928-462-3800. |
