Copper State Horse Shows - Open and Hunter Jumper Series

April 19th was a lovely day for the Copper State Horse Show - Open Series. Houg Ranch in Chandler was the host facility and Jennifer Cignoni handled the judging duties. The high-point English exihbitor was Megan Manning riding Jazzmyn Star owned by Kelli Metcalf. The high-point Western horse was More Sundown owned by Cyndy Kountz and ridden by Kelli Metcalf. These PAC approved shows will resume in the fall.
On the folowing Sunday (April 26th) the CSHS Hunter Jumper Series was well attended. Once again Houg Ranch was the gracious host. Some new divisions were introduced: 12" X-rails (in addition to the 18" X-rails) and 2' verticals (a twice-around class for riders transitioning from X-rails to full courses). With two rings capably judge by Wendy Dean Johnson and Debbie Jamsa, the show ran smoothly and ended at a reasonable hour. Both judges chose Billie Jean ridden by Megan Fara as the winner of the Copper State Hunter Cla$$ic. Other winners were:

CSHS's next hunter jumper show will be in the cool pines July 25th and 26th at the Flagstaff fairgrounds. It will be followed by the Desert Sport Horse hunter jumper show on July 31 through Aug. 2, so it is possible for exihbitors to spend a week in Flagstaff.
