The Arabian Horse Association of Arizona has been working hard to create some innovative changes in the halter division at the 56th Annual Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, February 17-27, 2011.
The Scottsdale show committee is planning on adding two (2) international halter judges to the roster. These two guest judges will work with all four (4) panels that judge halter classes. Each halter class will have 5 judges total and all scores will count towards the resulting champions.
The committee will also be adding the Scottsdale International Breeders Classic classes which will be Vegas style halter classes for yearlings and 2 year olds. We will use the Las Vegas score card. These International style halter classes will appeal to a more international style horse and can not be cross entered with the comparative style open Scottsdale halter classes.
The wildly successful Scottsdale Signature Stallion yearling classes will be divided into four (4) separate groups dependent on age (possibly more if the number warrant). There will be a first and second place winner in each section and they will compete for the championship.
We will also add a three (3) year old Scottsdale Signature Stallion ATH halter class for fillies, colts & geldings. The prize money for these classes will come from an outside source and not existing SSS funds.
The committee is committed to creating new and exciting opportunities to grow the breed and we feel that these changes will invigorate breeding and showing for the coming years.
