ARIZONA COWBOY MOUNTED SHOOTERS

ASSOCIATION JUNE 2001 NEWS by Tricia McMaster

Left: Grant McMaster on Smokin' Joe Hollywood, Overall Champion Cowboy; Above: Jill Hensley on Penny, Reserve Overall Champion Cowgirl

The shoot on Cinco de Mayo at the Hensley's arena in Glendale was a blast. Everyone dressed up in his or her most Mexican outfits. We had a three-stage match followed by a fiesta, complete with Mexican food and margaritas. We even had a piñata for the kids to break. The weather was a might hot, but not unbearable. Later in the evening, there was a fashion show put on by the Cave Creek Cowboy Company. Needless to say, everyone had a really great time.

Bits & Pieces

At the Best Mexican Costume Contest, Ben Sherrill won first place with his authentic Mexican hat. In second place was Sylvia Jackalone with a wonderful red skirt and blouse. Sandy Moore won third place with an authentic Cinco de Mayo celebration dress of mint green and pink. Everyone looked wonderful, congratulations to you three.

At this match we had a First in ACMSA competition. Jill Hensley, a junior, took Reserve Overall Cowgirl. Jill out shot and out rode many higher ranked Cowgirls. Good job Jill, that was some fancy shootin' you did.

On the men's side of things, Dave Ellett won the Class 1 division. It is only his second time in competition. Way to go Dave.
