From the arena roping action, to the prep work in dummy roping practice, this clinic had it all

Clinicians: Mike Drennan and Jason Hershberger

Clinic was well attended by guys and gals of all ages - our youngest participant was just 8 years old! The clinic started with "dummy" roping on both the "head" and "heels". Lots of time was spent working on basic skills: holding the rope properly, throwing the loop accurately and gaining confidence. One of the participants had never even held a rope! AzQHA had a free lunch for all participants and there were free refreshments throughout the day.

Mike and Jason showed how to properly warm up your horse and yourself, stressing a working partnership with your horse. They offered specific tips to each rider - it was amazing to everyone involved how much improvement the horses and the riders gained during the clinic. There was plenty of roping - both breakaway and team roping for all participants. Even the spectators were able to see what constituted a good run and could see how quickly a few roping and riding tips could make a difference.

Our President, Gayle Drennan, and Secretary, Connie Hay, worked the gates and cattle. This clinic was a "blast" - roping actually seemed do-able!
