Camp it up! Session Scheduled for Summer 2001

 

 

 

 

 

AMARILLO, Texas It's camp time again and the American Quarter Horse Heritage Center & Museum is gearing up for the third annual Camp It Up! With overwhelming response from the last two years, there will be sessions of the half-day camp this summer.

Camp It Up is a weeklong educational camp featuring fun experiences with horses. Open to children ages eight through 10, Camp It Up teaches young horse enthusiasts about general horse information and care.

"Camp It Up is a fun way for youth to learn the basics of ownership and horsemanship," said James May, Director of the American Quarter Horse Heritage Center & Museum. "Campers practice teamwork throughout the week and as a grand finale, get to actually ride a horsewith all the safety equipment available."

Session II of Camp It Up will run Monday through Friday, July 9-13 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Cost for the camp is $30 per child and includes snacks, t-shirts and other prizes. Preference will be given to first time participants.

Some of the activities scheduled for Camp It Up include completing an obstacle course, studying the skeleton of a horse, life-size horse puzzles and relay races.
