AMARILLO, Texas It's camp time
again and the American Quarter Horse Heritage Center & Museum is gearing
up for the third annual Camp It Up! With overwhelming response from the last
two years, there will be sessions of the half-day camp this summer. Camp It Up is a weeklong
educational camp featuring fun experiences with horses. Open to children ages
eight through 10, Camp It Up teaches young horse enthusiasts about general
horse information and care. "Camp It Up is a fun way
for youth to learn the basics of ownership and horsemanship," said James
May, Director of the American Quarter Horse Heritage Center & Museum.
"Campers practice teamwork throughout the week and as a grand finale,
get to actually ride a horsewith all the safety equipment available." Session II of Camp It Up will
run Monday through Friday, July 9-13 from 8 a.m. to noon. Cost for the camp is $30 per
child and includes snacks, t-shirts and other prizes. Preference will be
given to first time participants. Some of the activities
scheduled for Camp It Up include completing an obstacle course, studying the
skeleton of a horse, life-size horse puzzles and relay races. For more information about Camp
It Up or to register, contact the American Quarter Horse Heritage Center
