The new state-of-the-art American Airlines Center, in Dallas, will be the setting for the Copenhagen Cup Finale of the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour summer series presented by the Texas Stampede. PRCA Commissioner Steven J. Hatchell made the announcement today at a press conference in Dallas.

Nearly 100 of the world's best professional rodeo athletes will converge on the Lonestar State, Oct. 25-28, for the second most lucrative rodeo behind the National Finals Rodeo. The top 12 contestants in each of seven events will compete for a share of $700,000 in prize money and bonuses during the five-day event.

"This rodeo will be the Copenhagen Cup Series Finale, and the last major rodeo before the National Finals," said Hatchell. "The timing and the $700,000 purse promise to draw the world's top cowboys to downtown Dallas and American Airlines Center every fall for this world-class event."

Each of the five rodeo competitions will be followed with live, full-length performance by chart-topping recording artists like Faith Hill, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson and LeeAnn Rimes. The concert portion of the event will be produced by SFX, the world's largest concert producer.

The Wrangler ProRodeo Tour summer series will consist of 10 PRCA-sanctioned rodeos throughout the United States, with the schedule to be announced at a later date. All Tour rodeos and the Finale will be televised on ESPN2.

The American Airlines Center is located due north of Dallas' historic West End. The American Airlines Center anchors the mile-long, 70-acre Victory development that will house up to 8 million square feet of entertainment, shopping, businesses and homes. The facility will be home to the Dallas Mavericks NBA Basketball team and the Dallas Stars NHL Hockey team.

"We are very honored to team-up with the PRCA in bringing such a premier rodeo event to the Dallas area," said Texas Stampede director Joel Williams. "This will be a fun event for the whole family with top rodeo athletes and marquee entertainers performing each night."

Corporate sponsorships and ticket packages for the event are currently available through the Texas Stampede sales office. For more information regarding ticket availability, please call (214) 520-8874. Additional information is also available at www.texasstampede.org.
