Dear Mom,

Thanks for allowing me to play with my friends in a gorgeous setting in the beautiful Coconino National Forest last month. So often you've dictated I wear galoshes, a raincoat, or even a winter jacket. You know how much I used to love playing in the rain and the mud, but, come on Mom, that was 40 years ago! When I'm forced to play in those conditions today, my horse is rank, my chaps shrink - and, I have a heck of a time donning them when they are not shrunk - and my expensive hats become form-fit, not to my head, but to the atrocious waste surrounding it in the nearest trash can!

Indeed, my salutation is to Mother Nature and the phenomenal roll she played at the Lynne Bryson Memorial Tall Pines Show. Undoubtedly, Lynne rubbed elbows with her and, behold, the weather was absolutely fantastic for our horse show!

I wish to thank all of you exhibitors who showed so diligently throughout the week. We saw some world renown horsemen riding some great horse flesh. The Al Dunning Reining Clinic was superb, the barbecue was the best ever, and the dog races were, once again, nail-biting! (Jason Hershberger's collie and Jim and Dottie Naismith's wiry could not be beat.)

I thank all the banner sponsors who helped make this show, as well as all of our shows, a success: Vitaflex, Equine Senior, Dirt Doctor, 5B Quarter Horse Ranch, Equi-Aid, Strategy, Sacate, The French Quarry, Southwest Diesel and Electrical Corp., and, of course, Bridle & Bit.

I especially thank all the class sponsors for this show: Larry Bryson Family, Chuck and Susan Nibley, Rein Dance Ranch, Rancho Oso Rio, Horse Sportz WYNGZ, Marilyn Harris, Flagstaff Hay and Grain, Paul Wills Tack, Track One Events, Al Dunning Almosta Ranch, Dell and Terri Hendricks, 5B Quarter Horse Ranch, Marty and Joan Levine, Donna Powell, Randy Paul Reining Horses, Sam Anderson Family, and the Ironhorse Ranch.

The silent auction was also successful thanks to donations from: 5B Quarter Horse Ranch, Rein Dance Ranch, Marc and Abby Cosenza, Farnam and Michilene Muller.

Overall the show was a huge success. Thank you and hope to see you at the Bob Dorociak Memorial Futurity Show, October 26 ñ 28, at WestWorld.

Our next jackpot reining will take place at Arizona Horselover's Park, on Tatum just north of Deer Valley, September 15th. Fool & School will begin at 5:00 PM, with the jackpot commencing at 6:30 PM. Search up www.azreining.com for class and pattern details.

Don't forget to sign up for the NRHA Judges Seminar which will be held September 8 & 9th at the Hampton Inn & Suites (Frank Lloyd Wright and Scottsdale Road). The cost of the seminar is just $25. Call me for literature and reservations, (623) 465-0467.
