A Great Time for Arabian Horse People to Get Involved with Reining! | ||||

It's a growth sport. From 1990-2000, NRHA grew from 3,850 members to 10,250 and from 100 NRHA approved shows to 345. In 1990, a total of $1.3 million was paid out in NRHA competition and in 2000, NRHA paid out over $4.5 million in competition purses. Reining gained acceptance as the first Western Discipline of the United States Equestrian Team (USET). The NRHA has established an affiliate championship program to assist the development of reining at the grassroots level. With the assistance of NRHA Corporate Sponsorship, the Association contributes $25,000 to participating Affiliate Championship Programs that ARHA would be eligible for. Affiliates may also put together a circuit and send up to four representatives from each class to the regional Eastern, Central, Mountain and Western Affiliate NRHA Championship shows.
