Blue Ribbon Horse Shows

At our Blue Ribbon Horse Shows banquet last night, the raffle winners were: Silver Halter - Penny Fay; English Saddle - Laurie O'Malley; Blue Ribbon Western Saddle - Sara Gushgari; English Saddle Pad - Jessica Brosius

The 2001 year-end awards banquet was held Sunday evening, January 20th at the Phoenix Lodge. The buffet dinner was excellent, consisting of carved prime rib, carved ham, chicken cordon blue, salads, veggies and cake. Awards were then presented in each division by Miss Monica Hamm, 4 1/2 year old daughter of Lisa and Doug Hamm. This year's awards included silver belt buckles to first and second places, western headstalls, monogrammed bags, clocks and trophies. Everyone always enjoys watching the leadliners trying to carry their huge trophies back to their table!

Overall awards, which are an accumulation of points from one Western division and one English division, are always one of the highlights for the year. This year's winner, Jessica Brosilus was presented with the "Future Champions" bronze replica. Beautiful silver engraved English stirrups were presented to second through fourth places.

As always, the final and best awards for the evening are the raffle drawings. Each year, all of the year end winners' names that are present at the banquet are put into Blue Ribbon hat and some of the youth are called upon to pull out a winner. The winner from the Halter division was presented with a lovely silver halter. The English division winner took home an English saddle. The lucky Western division winner is now the proud owner of a Blue Ribbon saddle.

It was a very enjoyable family oriented evening and since sponsor Blue Ribbon Custom Tack and show managers Lisa and Doug Hamm have decided to continue the non profit Blue Ribbon Horse Shows in 2002, everyone is looking forward to starting the new season with the show scheduled for February 3rd.
