March 6th-10th, Westworld, Scottsdale

The Ride of Life Foundation is an Arizona non-profit corporation made up of all volunteers and organized for the sole purpose of assisting children.

The Foundation is now providing two gifts annually. The first is dedicated for the funding of the medically supervised camps facilitated by Phoenix Children's Hospital.

Camp AZDA for children with juvenile Diabetes, Camp Honor for children with Hemophilia, AIDS, or HIV, Camp Not-A-Wheeze for children with Asthma, and

Camp Rainbow for children who have Cancer. Each year approximately 600 children with serious illnesses and chronic disease are able to take advantage of these camps. With our funding Phoenix Children's Hospital provides medical supplies, staffing, and scholarships. Without our funding the hospital would not be able to provide this opportunity to these children.

The second gift is dedicated for the funding of the Foster Achievers Program. The purpose of this camp scholarship program is to reward students who strive to fulfill their individual potential by working to improve their grades, earn good citizenship, and help their community. This program was piloted in the Scottsdale School District in 1999. In 2000 the Ride of Life Foundation established its own camp in conjunction with the YMCA. We have been very fortunate through the help of our sponsors to send fifty students from various schools throughout the Valley each year since.

These children have all exemplified and modeled the behavior described in our belief statement: High expectations and hard work, driven by a positive vision, are essential to quality performance. Most of these students would not have an opportunity to attend a camp without this scholarship.

Our fund-raisers have been a tremendous success, enabling us to donate proceeds of over $200,000 to fund the Phoenix Children's Hospital medically supervised camps and the Foster Achievers Program.

In October 2002 the Ride of Life Foundation will sponsor the seventh annual 'Barn Blast'. Approximately 300 people from the greater Phoenix area will attend this very casual and fun evening, including a silent auction, dinner donated by Outback Steakhouse, live entertainment, party favors, raffles and a personal Olde Time Photo.

The Arizona Reining Horse Classic and Desert Circuit not only brings Reiners and quarter horse exhibitors from all over the country but internationally as well. The show will take place March 6-10, 2002. Our show for 2002 has again been chosen to host the fourth annual Intervet/USET Reining Championship Qualifier, the Sooner Trailer/USET Futures Reining Championship Qualifier and the USET Young Riders Championship Qualifier. Reining will be included in the 2002 World Equestrian Games. The USET will field a team of reining horses and riders to represent the United States via the USET Reining Championship, so the Arizona Reining Horse Classic will play a part in selecting our team for Reining's first International Championship. The media exposure from this show is tremendous. The show is advertised in national magazines, syndicated radio shows, USET program, several local newspapers, live broadcast by Channel 12 Morning Show and thirty minutes of highlights on ESPN's America Horse Show.
