This innovative new Saddle Pad (Patent Pending) consists of multiple layers of thick polypropylene felt, sewn only down the centerline along the backbone. "This design creates three independent layers (Western pad) on each side of the pad." Says Steve Rauch, President of Southwest Animal Products and the creator of The Butterfly Pad. "This features makes our Pad much more versatile than any other pad on the market. It allows you to fan out all three layers on each side, greatly reducing drying time. Also, because of the non-fraying fabric, you can cut away any portion of the pad to make a Custom fit for your specific needs. E.g. Cut away withers, cut handles in each end to help pull a Saddle off the horse, remove material to eliminate hot spots, create air-vent holes, etc. Probably one of the most important features, however is that the three independent layer construction allows less friction to be transferred to your horses back. "It's a lot like wearing 2 pairs of socks when you go hiking (to prevent blisters,)" adds Steve. "My horses thank you for The Butterfly Pad. I'm a polo player at 6'1", 185 lbs. and when I am up moving around in the saddle, it's a lot of work for my horses. With The Butterfly Pad much of the friction is absorbed by the pad and not transferred to the horse. Keeping that extra work off their backs has been a big help." Shane Rice Another feature of the felt used in The Butterfly Saddle Pad is that it is made of a Non-Microbial. "Natural fiber materials like wool or cotton can create a breeding ground for bacteria," says Steve Rauch. "If needed, you can use straight bleach on our pad without damage to the pad. It's probably one of the lowest maintenance Saddle Pads on the Market." The Western Pad comes 3 Layers thick and Retails at $39.00 each, The English Pad is 2 layers thick (for closer contact) and Retails at $29.00. Single Layers are also available, to use under your favorite show pad, Retail for $10.00. "These pads are tough! We're a rodeo-ing family working horses all day long. The Butterfly Pad is durable, drys quickly and doesn't get bogged down with hair. A quick shot on the wash rack and it's like new. Having been in the tack business all my life we've tried a lot of pads, this is the best work pad we've found and I don't plan on trading it in."
