Francais Foal Inspection

Les Chevaux de Carlier will host the North American
Selle Francais Association Annual Breeding Approval Inspection for Arizona. The
inspection will be held in the Fall at the farm on Cotton Lane, Surprise, AZ. A
representative of the French National Stud will officiate. Foals of 2002, mares
and stallions will be inspected for breeding approval.
Stallions of the following breeding are eligible:
Selle Francais; French Anglo-Arabian; Cheval de Selle; Stallions registered
with "foreign" (recognized) studbook who are of 50% or greater French
origin and with pre-approval from NASFA office; Jockey Club - registered
Thoroughbred.
The minimum age for inspection for a stallion is four
years. It is imperative that a stallion presented for inspection by the French
National Stud, have a performance record in any of the three Olympic equestrian
disciplines or for a Thoroughbred, an outstanding race record with placings in
graded stakes.
Mares of the following breeds are also eligible:
Cheval de Selle; Mares registered with a "foreign" (recognized)
studbook who are of 50% or greater French origin and have a performance record;
Jockey Club - registered Thoroughbred mares; Arabian mares registered with the
Arabian Horse Registry of America or the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry.
Mares must be a minimum 15.2" in height and the
owners must present original papers. Copies are not acceptable.
Foals of 2002 will be presented for the foal
evaluation program. The objective of the program is to assist breeders to
organize their breeding program to produce a true sport horse, which will have
the athletic ability and temperament to win at any of the equestrian
disciplines.
In order to present horses for evaluation or inspection,
the owner(s) must be members of NASFA. Paperwork needs to be completed by
August 1, 2002.
