Wyeth Equine Ranching Scholarship Opportunity

 (Louisville, KY) Wyeth is proud to announce the Wyeth Equine Ranching Scholarship to encourage the children and grandchildren of pregnant mares' urine (PMU) ranchers to pursue advanced academic studies and career paths. The scholarship guidelines were designed to recognize and reward demonstrated excellence in academic and community-based programs.

Program Highlights:

• The Wyeth Equine Ranching Scholarship is for the children or grandchildren of PMU producers who are North American Equine Ranching Information Council (NAERIC) and Local Association members in good standing.

• The annual program will award a single scholarship of $10,000.00 Canadian (approximately $6,000.00 U.S.) to pay for tuition, books, and room and board.

• Candidates must be graduating high school seniors, college undergraduates, or graduate students pursuing a four-year degree program or graduate degree.

•. Among the candidates, preference will be given to individuals pursuing a science-based or agriculture curriculum.

• Candidates must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 along with demonstrated excellence in community-based activities.

• Candidates and scholarship winners may reapply annually.

• To be considered for the scholarship, candidates must submit the application form, an original essay, a letter of recommendation, and official academic transcript(s).

• Application forms will be available at the PMU Producers Meetings in late April and early May. The application forms will be mailed to ranchers who are unable to attend the Producer Meetings. An electronic application is posted on the NAERIC web site at: http:/www.naeric.org. APPLICATION SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS MAY 31, 2002.

• The recipient of the first Wyeth Equine Ranching Scholarship will be notified on June 12, 2002.
