It all comes down to maintenance

It all comes down to maintenance

I have been a little over protective over the years with my children. But when your kids start driving, you have to be. This may seem a bit over kill, but it should come full circle.  When my kids started to drive, my biggest fear was the automatic transmission. They drove used vehicles and I always worried that, being a used vehicle and not shifting the way I thought the transmission should shift, it would leave one of my kids stranded someday causing me some huge dollars. To help protect the investments, I installed a transmission filter set up (as you see in the picture attached) and it may not seem like much, but the older vehicles never gave a lot of protection to the transmission fluid, other than the filter that is inside the transmission pan.  Having had the pleasure to over haul a couple of my kid’s transmission now, it was a great comfort to find no internal debris in the transmission pan, no excessively worn parts, and the only issues I had with the internals of the transmission were some worn out springs in the valve body.

If you’re driving an older model transmission, Allison Transmissions excluded (due to their spin on filter on the transmission), an external transmission filter kit may be up your alley. These kits increase longevity of your transmission, increase fluid life and have a filter you can swap out at any time to make maintenance much easier. This may be something you are looking for.
